What is Prunus Salicina Extract?
Prunus Salicina Extract is a high-quality, versatile plant-based ingredient that is made specifically from the botanical source in the form of plum. A premium, versatile plant-based ingredient that is manufactured specifically from the botanical source – plum (also known as Chinese plum or Japanese plum). It is a botanical raw material that has been produced using advanced extraction and standardization technologies and is optimized for incorporation into large-scale formulations in all areas of the functional food, beverage, dietary supplement, and personal care sectors. The extract has an abundant naturally occurring phytochemical profile with high levels of polyphenols, flavonoids, organic acids, and essential vitamins, and is primarily used as a powerful clean-label antioxidant carrier. It is used as a multifunctional ingredient in the industrial development of products, as a nutritional supplement for final products, as a stabiliser against oxidative degradation, and as a matrix to enhance the natural flavour of products. The raw material meets high global agricultural and manufacturing requirements, providing enterprise customers with high solubility, good heat resistance, and stable batch-to-batch, which is suitable for automatic manufacturing lines. Formulated as a technical and nutritional additive, it offers a plant extract that is reliable, sustainable, and scientifically proven to help formulators deliver on the increasing consumer demand for a clean and pure ingredient that is both fruit-derived and scientifically proven.

Features
Technically and formulating, Prunus Salicina Fruit Extract is unique in its extremely stable physicochemical profile with excellent water solubility, thermal stability, and a highly concentrated polyphenol matrix of low molecular weight polyphenols (chlorogenic acid, neochlorogenic acid) and organic acids (malic and citric acids). This unique chemical composition results in a natural buffering and an inherent low pH, creating an inherent microbial growth inhibition and a synergistic stabilisation mechanism in liquid systems that contribute to extended product shelf life. The extract is also very stable under standard pasteurization and thermal processing conditions (up to 80°C – 90°C); it does not precipitate, cause undesirable turbidity, or change its structural integrity, natural pigment profile, and high radical scavenging capacity. Moreover, it is highly compatible with the other botanical carriers, hydrocolloids, and active matrices, ensuring easy dispersion in functional drinks, nutritional bars, or topical cosmetic emulsions, providing an easy-to-use and clean label raw material that provides standardisation consistency and provides natural antioxidants without having any impact on the targeted texture/viscosity of the final product, offering a flexible and versatile raw material for R&D teams.
How to Store Properly?
1. Temperature Control:
Ensure that the sealed containers are kept in a cool warehouse room (consistent temperatures of 15 °C to 25 °C) and do not experience extreme temperatures or the effects of prolonged freezing.
2. Moisture and Humidity Management:
Store in a dry, low-humidity area. High-purity plant extracts are hygroscopic, so the retention of moisture-barrier packaging integrity from the ambient humidity will prevent caking, clumping, and degradation of the powder matrix.
3. Light Mitigation:
Keep out of direct sunlight, UV radiation, and strong artificial lights. The dark or shaded storage area will help to prevent the naturally occurring polyphenols and organic acids in the Chinese Plum Extract from photodegradation and premature oxidation.
4. Ventilation and Airflow:
Place pallets or containers off the ground and from walls, to allow enough air flow throughout the storage area. The environment should be well-ventilated and completely lacking strong and volatile aromatics, which might cross-contaminate the neutral aromatic raw material.
5. Resealing Protocol for Partial Use:
The default package structure is designed to be as robust as possible for industrial use; however, if it has to be broken open for sampling or part batch production, it should be immediately purged of air and then permanently resealed. Reducing the amount of air that the material comes into contact with avoids the oxidation that can occur at room temperature and helps ensure that the excellent solubility characteristics of the material are maintained for later manufacturing runs.

Product Direction
1. Nutrient-Dense RTD (Ready-to-Drink) Beverages:
Its outstanding water solubility and thermal stability properties make it perfect for clean-label functional juices, wellness shots, and high-end mocktails. It has a natural tart taste and has a high level of polyphenols from plants, while being non-turbid and non-sedimentary to the liquid matrix.
2. Nutraceutical Powders and Effervescent Tablets:
Prunus Salicina Extract is suitable for blending with automated systems, has a consistent particle size, and can be used as a main ingredient in daily powdered supplement mixes, meal replacement shakes, or fast-dissolving effervescent products for health-conscious consumers.
3. Advanced Topical Nutricosmetics:
The organic acids and antioxidants in the extract are ideal for incorporation into skin creams, serums, and anti-aging targeted emulsions for use by formulators. It is a natural clarifying agent and stabiliser that prevents oxidative degradation and colour change of topical formulations over time.
4. Hybrid Confectionery and Functional Snacks:
Can easily be integrated into specialty matrices such as vitamin-infused gummies, energy bars, and functional fruit chews. It can withstand high temperatures, and its nutritional value and natural pigment will not be affected during high-temperature extrusion or molding.
5. Clean-Label Food Preservation Systems:
In addition to its nutritional benefits, food scientists can use the extract's natural polyphenols and organic acids as a clean-label ingredient to assist in slowing lipid oxidation and thereby increasing the fresh shelf life of processed meat replacements and bakery products.
