What is Citrate Magnesium Powder?
Citrate Magnesium Powder is an organic mineral raw material specially designed for use in commercial applications throughout the world in the dietary supplement, functional food, and beverage manufacturing industries. It is a micro-fine white non-hygroscopic powder made by a precise chemical reaction between high-purity magnesium sources and citric acid, which has excellent physical stability and neutral organoleptic properties. This highly water-dispersible compound, with its even particle size distribution and excellent compressibility in a high-speed production cycle, is a preferred compound in industry for formulation and product development in cold waters. In the commercial manufacturing pipeline, it is a proven mineral fortification base, which can be incorporated into a broad range of powder products without sedimenting, clumping, or imparting off-flavours, such as ready-to-mix active nutrition products, electrolyte hydration sachets, chewable dietary products, and daily wellness complexes. Manufactured in world-class facilities with a robust cGMP, ISO, and food safety compliance framework, it is a reliable, clean-label raw material that meets the needs of enterprise clients, custom compounders, and contract manufacturers in global supply chains and ensures batch-to-batch consistency, machine uptime, and modern clean-label formulation requirements.

Features
Magnesium Citrate Powder has unique physicochemical properties that offer important technical benefits to product formulation and processing engineers. A white microcrystalline powder, it is chemically a fully reacted organic salt, with an optimized molar ratio of elemental magnesium to citric acid, which results in a stable ionic matrix with less bulk reactivity than basic mineral oxides. Physically it has controlled bulk density, it has very little hygroscopic tendency when stored in ambient conditions and it is very compressible for direct compression tableting. Its special colloidal dispersing properties in aqueous media make it very suitable for use in formulations made up in water, as it provides a homogeneous solution without thermal spikes or changes to sensitive pH balances. Furthermore, the ingredient has minimal chemical reactivity with sensitive active ingredients like vitamins, organic acids, and plant-based ingredients, which keeps the product from becoming oxidized or changing in colour when combined with other ingredients. It has moisture sorption isotherms that are predictable and low surface friction for smooth flow through high-speed automated dosing, encapsulation, and stick pack equipment. It is an extremely versatile technical base, offering optimal ionic compatibility, mechanical stability, and thermal stability throughout heat processing stages, which makes it ideal for formulation development and improves the physical integrity of end products in a variety of industrial processing applications.
How to Store Properly?
1. Controlled Ambient Storage Conditions:
Store product in a cool, temperature-controlled warehouse at temperatures of less than 25°C (77° F) and at relative humidity below 60 percent to help prevent the absorption of moisture from the environment and keep the product with the best fluidity.
2. Original Packaging Integrity:
Do not open the material until it can be used in immediate production runs in the factory, and keep it in its original heavy-duty barrier packaging, provided by double food-grade polyethylene inner liners and food-safety outer drums.
3. Prompt Resealing Practices:
If the drum is not being used in full, immediately twist, tie, or heat seal the inner PE bag to prevent air exposure and protect against humidity from the ambient air entering the drum.
4. Pallet Clearance and Airflow Maintenance:
Use wooden or plastic pallets to store bulk containers, at least 10- 15 cm above ground to allow uniform ventilation and prevent ground condensation.
5. Protection from Direct Light and Heat:
Avoid having heat storage racks too close to skylights, industrial steam lines, heating elements, or direct sunlight, as these may cause hot or cold spots that can have an impact on the stability of the powder or the durability of the liner.
6. First-In, First-Out (FIFO) Rotation:
Ensure efficient Pure Magnesium Citrate Powder inventory flow along commercial production lines with strict FIFO tracking, maintaining maximum handling performance and physical stability along the way.

Recommended Usage
1. Capsule Processing Optimization:
Mix 0.5% - 1.0% silicon dioxide or magnesium stearate to pre-screen the Micro-fine Magnesium Citrate Powder through a 60–80 mesh sieve to avoid static agglomeration, ensure uniform flow, and prevent powder bridging in a high-speed dosator hopper.
2. Direct Compression & Granulation:
Mix with microcrystalline cellulose or dicalcium phosphate as a plastic binder, subjecting it to moderate to controlled compression force to get the optimum tablet hardness without capping, tool sticking, or die friction.
3. Liquid & Beverage Pre-Dissolution:
Dissolve the powder in warm purified water under high shear conditions before transferring it to a tank; this will increase the chances of complete ionic dissociation, provide a clear solution, and avoid the settling of the powder in the finished liquid lines.
4. pH-Sensitive Liquid Systems:
Feed the raw material slowly into the liquid matrices that contain the organic acids or natural fruit flavors and ensure that during the thermal processing operation there are no drops in local pH, turbidity, or precipitation.
5. Dry-Blend Powder Premixes:
Apply geometric dilution to blend trace minerals and botanicals in ribbon or V-blenders to ensure even mineral dispersion and ensure the same active mineral content in sachet and stick-pack lines from batch to batch.
6. Gummy & Confectionery Integration:
Dissolve the powder in the liquid acid phase before adding to pectin or gelatin slurry, and ensure that the cooking temperatures are controlled and that the Brix levels are kept low, to avoid premature gelling and loss of clarity.
FAQ
Q1: What are the bulk density and particle size specifications for Citrate Magnesium Powder?
Our material has a controlled bulk density (usually 0.45-0.65g/mL), particle size passing 80-100 mesh, excellent compaction, and quick blending in commercial production.
Q2: How does Citrate Magnesium Powder perform in high-shear liquid processing?
It disperses quickly, without forming tight balls or causing thermal peaks. It is completely soluble in high-shear agitation and results in a stable, sediment-free liquid base.
Q3: Can this ingredient be blended directly with sensitive vitamins and organic acids?
Yes. It is extremely compatible with vitamins, fruit acids, and botanical extracts because it is non-reactive and has a stable pH profile, which prevents oxidative degradation or colour change of multi-ingredient blends.
Q4: What measures should be taken to prevent moisture absorption during warehouse storage?
Store drums at a facility with a dry atmosphere at temperatures of < 25ºC and < 60% RH. For partially produced, be sure to twist and heat-seal the inner PE liner before tightly closing the outer lid.
Q5: Is this powder suitable for pectin-based gummy and chewable formulations?
Absolutely. It dissolves cleanly with low thermal reactivity and can be added to pectin and/or gelatin slurries without any risk of premature gelling or cloudiness in cooked gummies.
