What is Seaweed Kelp Extract?
Seaweed Kelp Extract is a highly concentrated marine botanical derived from the brown algae species that are sustainably harvested, such as Laminaria japonica, Ascophyllum nodosum, and other nutrient-rich sea plants, extracted, enzymatically converted, concentrated, and dried using sustainable technologies. It is used mainly in industrial/commercial applications and is available to most manufacturers in agriculture, environmental products, specialty raw materials, fermentation technologies, and marine products. It is used in international value chains because of its natural origin, versatility in formulation, and application in various manufacturing systems. The extract will generally include naturally occurring alginates, polysaccharides, organic compounds, amino acids, as well as trace minerals from the marine source that can be incorporated into a compound product or tailored ingredient solution for use as a multifunctional formulator component. It can be used and added to liquid, powder, granular, and concentrated product formats with benefits in processing adaptability, water dispersibility, and processing efficiency. Numerous companies are using this ingredient in their high-quality formulation initiatives for sustainable sourcing, bio-based materials, and concepts for marine-origin ingredients in line with today's market preferences for naturally-sourced ingredients.

Features
Naturally occurring physical and chemical properties make Kelp Extract highly beneficial for its use in industries for formulation and product development. The extract is often highly water dispersible, possesses excellent suspension stability, and is readily compatible with both liquid and powder formulations, which can be formulated easily and efficiently by the formulator by incorporating it as part of a complex formulation with a range of other ingredients. In their natural form, it has polysaccharides such as alginates and fucoidan-type compounds that help to regulate the viscosity and moisture-holding ability, as well as optimize the texture of formulations in some industrial applications. It is also rich in a wide array of trace marine minerals and organic compounds, which enable its application in a multifunctional ingredient within bio-based product systems. It also has relatively low hygroscopicity and bulk density, and is suitable for spray drying, granulation, blending, and concentrated liquid manufacturing processes from the processing point of view. The ingredient can be tailored to various particle sizes, solubility, pH ranges, and active ingredient concentrations appropriate to the specification to offer formulation scientists more flexibility when designing and scaling up formulations.
How to Store Properly?
1. Store in a Cool and Dry Environment
It should be delivered and kept in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse for the purpose of powder stability and to minimize exposure to excess humidity.
2. Keep Packaging Properly Sealed
The product is already packaged as per standard export packaging requirements, so the manufacturers must not open the packaging unless it is actually in use or the packaging has been broken to let moisture in or for reasons of external contamination.
3. Avoid Direct Sunlight and Heat Sources
Excessive heat from prolonged sunlight, steam, and high-temperature processing areas can have an impact on the powder flowability and storage stability; therefore, it is important that the material remains protected from such temperatures.
4. Use Hygienic Material Handling Procedures
In secondary handling or transfer, it is recommended to clean and dry the tools, containers, and feeding systems to help maintain product consistency in an industrial production environment.
5. Separate From Strong Odor Materials
The marine-derived raw material should not be stored near volatile chemicals, solvents, or strong-smelling materials to maintain the sensory properties of the product.
6. Control Warehouse Humidity Levels
It is recommended to manage the environmental humidity level to be stable in order to minimize the risk of Sea Kelp Extract becoming agglomerated during commercial inventory cycles, particularly during long-term bulk storage.
7. Apply Batch Rotation Management
To help with good warehouse management and batch traceability, it is recommended that industrial buyers adopt a standard inventory policy (first–in, first–out).

Recommended Usage
The Kelp Extract Powder can be added to a variety of formulation systems, depending on the intended formulation and processing. In capsule production, the excipients are usually combined with powder to enhance the uniformity of filling, the bulk density, and the efficiency of capsule encapsulations during high-speed capsule production. It is also frequently used in tablet formulations in combination with granulation-compatible binders and tablet compression aids to provide a stable tablet structure, minimise segregation of the tablet during mixing, and optimise the flow of the powder during the automated tableting process. For liquid or suspension-based systems, it is usually necessary to pre-disperse the extract in a controlled agitation system and then add it to the main formulation in order to achieve a better solubility distribution in the formulation and prevent clumping during large-scale processing. When producing concentrated liquid products or multi-ingredient blends, manufacturers often look at pH compatibility, viscosity behaviour, and sedimentation stability of the products because of the natural presence of mineral components and polysaccharides in marine-derived extracts. It is also suitable for use with botanical powders, amino acid systems, fermentation substrates, and mineral premixes for product developers to develop some differentiated formulations for their private label and OEM projects.
