What is Defatted Krill Meal?
Defatted Krill Meal is a marine raw material with a high protein content, which is obtained by extracting most of the oil from Antarctic krill by a controlled process and then drying and fine milling to ensure a stable particle size and high nutrient content. The defatting process will make the protein concentration higher, and storage stability is better, and will produce a product that is suitable for large-scale industrial use with the same protein content. It has a balanced amino acid profile, fine particle size, and excellent processing capabilities, making it a popular choice for manufacturers looking for premium marine protein ingredients for formulation and product innovation. Low-fat content also provides increased flexibility for product development, for products that need to be formulated around available raw materials with specific fat content or with specific compatibility. It offers benefits to the buyer such as production efficiency, specification consistency, and supply chain reliability, and can be formulated according to various manufacturing specifications for the protein content, particle size, and packaging. With consistency, traceability of feed raw materials, and the ability to scale up production, it is a flexible marine feed raw material for global food, feed, and aquaculture, pet nutrition, and specialty industrial applications where consistent quality and formulation adaptability are critical.

Features
Its unique characteristics of rich protein content, low lipid content, and a balanced amino acid profile allow Defatted Krill Powder to be used technically in a wide range of industrial formulations with marine products as an ingredient. By virtue of the removal of most of the oil, the oxidative stability of the ingredients is enhanced, and flexibility in handling the ingredients during storage and processing is increased, and the fat content of finished products can be better controlled. It does not matter - uniform particle size is important for good flowability, efficient blending, and uniform dispersion of dry premixes, which aids in the homogeneous production of dry formulations in large-scale production. Additionally, the material has good compatibility with a wide variety of protein ingredients, marine ingredients, plant-based ingredients, vitamin and mineral ingredients, and specialty functional ingredients and can be used in flexible formulation solutions. It may be available in controlled moisture, protein, and particle size to fit various processing needs, depending on the production specification. The physical and compositional properties offer increased flexibility in formulation and ingredient selection, process optimization, and specification customization for various industrial applications with the same product batch quality.
How to Store Properly?
1. Store in a Cool, Stable Environment
Store after delivery in a clean and dry warehouse where the ambient temperature is stable, and do not store in places with high temperatures or frequent temperature changes.
2. Keep the Original Packaging Intact
All our products are sealed professionally before dispatch. Packaging should be used until the product is consumed to avoid exposure to external contamination and to maintain the quality of the product.
3. Protect from Moisture
Keep out of moist areas and away from contact with water. A low-humidity storage area is important to ensure the free-flowing powder.
4. Avoid Direct Sunlight
Store in a shaded area. The overall stability and appearance of the powder may be influenced if it is exposed directly to sunlight for a long period of time.
5. Reseal Promptly After Opening
Tightly close inner packaging after use if not all of the product has been dispensed to minimize exposure to air and environmental moisture.
6. Separate from Strong Odors
Krill Meal is a marine ingredient and should be avoided in storage with strong odours or volatile materials to preserve the sensory qualities.
7. Apply Inventory Rotation
Adopt a first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory management system to optimize warehouse operations and promote even product flow.

Recommended Usage
Krill Powder is usually added as a marine protein ingredient in the dry blending step in the formulation process for industrial manufacturing to ensure a uniform distribution of the product in the formulation before downstream processing. It is usually blended with complementary powdered ingredients with the same particle size and flow characteristics to enhance the filling consistency and production efficiency of capsule production. In tablet formulations, the ingredient is typically premixed with excipients and processing aids to ensure homogeneous mixing and reproducible compression properties of the tablet and/or to optimize bulk density and tablet properties to suit individual equipment requirements, with the use of formulation trials. Usually, it is dispersed in liquid or suspension-based products by continuous agitation or by high shear mixing to ensure uniformity of dispersion, and auxiliary chemicals may be chosen according to the formulation system to be used. The level of inclusion can be customized for the developers depending on the required protein specification, processing technology, and finished product format in the case of customized compound formulation. To ensure ingredient compatibility, mixing characteristics, and process performance in actual production, it is recommended to conduct small-scale pilot production before commercial production.
